Bomberos Voluntarios de Guatemala, Volunteer Fire Department of Guatemala, is a non profit organization, dedicated to protect and serve the people of Guatemala without social distinction, racial or personal believing. Being a Fire Fighting institution, the first and basic roll is to prevent and extinction of fire, but in our media, it has happened to be of great importance if it is not that the main task, the medical services of ambulance, emergency medical services and rescue services, with the highest professionalism to protect the life of any person who is in danger.
The 8th. Company of Bomberos Voluntarios of Antigua was founded on July 25, 1971, by the Fire Chief Arturo Lazo and by the Antigua's citizen Roberto Sandoval alias "El coronel", for the growing needs of the people of Antigua Guatemala, maybe without thinking in the size de city will reach, absorbing almost all communities nearby, the ones we serve too, covering as many as 45,000 people in Antigua Guatemala, towns, and villages nearby.
Our Active force has 8 firemen in permanent guard, as a job, the are paid firemen, in two shifts of 24 x 24 hours, plus, we have another 42 volunteer firemen, which give the service to the community without waiting something in return.
